Lawton Chiles High School Teacher and Staff Recognitions...

National Board Certified Teachers-National Board Certification® measures a teacher's practice against three high and rigorous standards: What Teachers Should Know and Be Able to Do, Five Core Propositions, NBPTS Standards . The process is an extensive series of performance-based assessments that includes teaching Portfolios, student work samples, videotapes and thorough analyses of the candidates' classroom teaching and student learning. Teachers also complete a series of written exercises that probe the depth of their subject-matter knowledge, as well as their understanding of how to teach those subjects to their students. Our choral director, Tucker Biddlecombe, recently had a composition of his published by Alliance Music Publishers Incorporated. The piece, ‘Rise Up’, is for men’s voices, and was performed at the Florida State Music Performance Assessment by the Chiles Men’s Chorus in 2004.
